This Boulder Home Proves That Good Design Can Be Kid-Friendly
When designer Amy Pigliacampo was renovating her Boulder, Colorado home, she needed a natural white oak floor to complement her modern aesthetic. Shell flooring (with installation by Jesse's team at Focus Hardwood) brought her organic modern vision to life.
I am very conscious of all the toxins and VOCs in our homes, so I love finding companies that share the same ethos as I do.

Colorado FAQs
Yes, of course, we have many installations above 8000 feet. The biggest thing to pay attention to with any wood floor at high elevation in arid environments is relative humidity. Wood either takes on or gives off moisture, so in dry areas, it's important to maintain consistent relative humidity indoors as much as possible to keep the floors from drying out and shrinking or cracking.
Like most wood floor companies, a range of 30%-65% relative humidity ensures our floors will perform wonderfully. If your indoor relative humidity is lower than 30%, a whole-home humidifier is a great solution that creates a much healthier environment for you and your family as well.
Absolutely! Radiant heat is very common in Scandinavia and our floors have been lived on over radiant heat systems for years. Whether it's a radiant heat mat or tubes in gypcrete, our floors work wonderfully. Your installation method will depend on the subfloor. If you choose to glue-down over radiant heat, be sure to get written approval from the glue manufacturer that it's suitable for glue down over radiant since glue is typically the first thing that fails in adverse radiant heat conditions.
Yes! Unlike other wood floors, ours perform wonderfully in a basement. Floating the floor over one of our underlayments ensures the floor is protected from moisture below and will perform incredibly for years to come. Our locking system makes floating installations incredibly easy. If you choose to glue down in a basement be sure to use an adhesive with a moisture barrier built-in.
No. Our material comes packaged in plastic at a specific moisture content so you can just open up the cartons and begin installing right away. If you wish to wait a few days or weeks to install after the flooring has arrived, simply leave the flooring in its package.

While all of our floors can handle some water, most of our products will swell if puddles are left to soak into the wood. However, our Rebels collection can hold up to standing water for 24 hours. The one-of-a-kind construction makes these floors the perfect solution for lake houses, mud rooms, full bathrooms, and families with young kids or pets.
