Afterwork Bloks bring the warmth of unstained white oak into a larger square format, with natural grain and knots creating rich variation across each surface. Each one is custom cut from a single board of Stuga’s Icons flooring,

Afterwork, transforming the original wide plank into large Bloks designed to showcase more of the wood’s character. Each Blok has an eased edge, or bevel, on all four sides. An oil finish keeps the surface matte and tactile, giving Afterwork a warm, natural feel with added visual scale.

Bloks do not possess any tongue or groove, as they are meant to be laid adjacent to each other in alternating directions to create a striking visual pattern. It is parquet reduced to its simplest geometry, but on a larger scale. The approved installation method of this floor is glue-down only.

*THIS IS AN OILED FLOOR and needs to be oiled with Freshen Up immediately after installation.

Lead time is 8-10 weeks.

Certifications
We’re rooted in Scandinavian sustainability practices. That means building floors that last 100 years, certified against the toughest environmental and indoor air quality restrictions in the world.

Bloks started with the idea that I loved the history and geometry of parquet flooring, but wanted to create a version that felt quieter, more modern, and more architectural. Rather than an intricate pattern made up of many small pieces, we reduced the idea to its most elemental form: a square of wood.

Afterwork Bloks FAQ's

All Stuga Bloks are installed via glue-down. They cannot be stapled or floated. Since they have no tongue or groove, install pieces adjacent to one another in alternating directions. Any premium wood flooring adhesive is sufficient with a full trowel method. You can download our installation instructions HERE.

Yes, absolutely. You will need to modify the planks by removing the tongue or groove, depending on the direction, so the Bloks and planks meet each other flush. The design possibilities are endless!

At this time, we do not. The easiest way to make your own edge piece is to cut a mitered return.

Yes, they can. You will need to use the corresponding plank nosing with each Blok. For example, Afterwork nosings work with Afterwork Bloks. The same goes for Shell and Happy Hour. Since Bloks don't have a tongue or groove, you'll need to modify the stair nosing (remove the tongue) so it sits flush with the Bloks.

Our clients like our oiled floors because the detailed texture of the wood can be experienced in a closer way than traditional top-coat finishes. You can really "feel" the wood which is sensory enhancing and very grounding. Plus they age gracefully over time like antique furniture. They quite possibly will look better 10 years from now than they do right out of the box. Scratches and dings can be spot-oiled to minimize their appearance.

Not really. It does need to be oiled right after installation with our Freshen Up, which is very easy to apply with the dust mop and pad in your Welcome Box. The oil is a protective layer against anything from above, like water and other liquids that can stain the wood. Think of it like protecting an old piece of furniture.

Every year, we recommend re-oiling high-traffic areas, any areas that take a lot of wear and tear from above, like kitchens or entryways. You can do this re-oiling area by area with the dust mop and pad. You don't need to remove all furniture and rugs, etc., since very little traffic happens in those areas. When spot oiling annually, the area will dry in 6-8 hours and take a full 24 hours to cure, so if you oil before bed or prior to spending a weekend away, that's ideal.

Oiled floors can stain here or there, but we think these signs of life make a floor that much more beautiful. Most stains will fade with time and exposure to sunlight. To address stubborn stains, we recommend using a stain remover formulated specifically for oiled floors, such as this one by Woca. Avoid leaving anything wet on your floors to minimize stains and avoid damage.

If necessary, we recommend using Mohawk fil-stik crayons, which we include in your welcome box. The Mohawk colors we recommend for Afterwork are Khaki Quiet Grove and Charter Oak Oregano.

You can also use Rubio Monocoat for minor touch-ups. The Rubio color we recommend is called Mist 5%. Small sample bottles can be purchased at various websites.

We don't consider this to be a high-contrast floor. Boards can vary between muted tan and a very soft midtone brown. This adds a subtle organic movement to the floor, which is quite calming.

It's fairly attribute-heavy, meaning it has knots of varying sizes throughout, some up to 3", plus fully filled-in cracks up to 8-9" long on some boards. Afterwork has a wide range of wood graining, which makes this floor breathtaking and lets you experience the full variety of a tree's characteristics. Dark browns are present around the knots, while creamy tans and lighter medullary rays occupy some planks.

Yes, two times. The likelihood of you ever sanding/refinishing your floor is very low. The likelihood of you sanding your floor twice is essentially zero. The main reasons to sand/refinish your floors are heavy neglect and abuse that cause severe damage, or a desire to change the color. But sleep peacefully knowing that these floors will last a lifetime for you or the next owners of your space.
