If you love the abstracted, freckled pattern of a tree’s natural imperfections, this is the floor to bring that indoors. This oak floor has wide planks and prominent knots and large cracks coated with a white stain to create a beautiful, graphic contrast with the light-colored blonde oak. Heavily brushed to emphasize the natural grain and texture of the tree, Pepper strikes a gorgeous balance of rustic and modern.

No random lengths. Each plank is 7 ⅜” wide and 95 ¼" long. Enjoy the look of long, full length boards throughout your floor.

*THIS IS AN OILED FLOOR and needs to be oiled with Satin Oil immediately after installation.

Beautiful oil finish

Common throughout Europe, Pepper's oil finish allows the full texture and beauty of wood to take center stage. It provides a wonderfully organic feel underfoot while aging beautifully. In high-traffic areas like kitchens and entryways, annual re-oiling is required.

Pepper FAQ's

It's fairly character heavy, meaning it will have varying sizes of knots throughout, some up to 3" in size, in addition to cracks that can run the length of each plank. It has very heavy brushing on the board in addition to various saw marks which provides a very grounding feel.

Our clients like our oiled floors because the detailed texture of the wood can be experienced in a closer way than traditional top-coat finishes. You can really "feel" the wood which is sensory enhancing and very grounding. Plus they age gracefully over time like antique furniture. They quite possibly will look better 10 years from now than they do right out of the box. Scratches and dings can be spot-oiled to minimize their appearance.

Not really. It does need to be oiled immediately after installation with our Satin Oil, which is very easy to apply with the dust mop and pad provided in your Welcome Box. The oil is a protective layer against anything from above, like water and other liquids that can stain the wood. Think of it like protecting an old piece of furniture. Every year we recommend to re-oil high traffic areas, any areas that take a lot of wear and tear from above like kitchens or entryways. This re-oiling can be done area by area with the dust mop and pad. There is no need to remove all furniture and rugs, etc., since very little traffic is happening in those areas. When spot oiling annually, the area will dry in 6-8 hours and takes a full 24 hours to cure so if you oil before bed or prior to spending a weekend away, that's ideal.

Yes!

Absolutely! We do recommend re-oiling every year in a kitchen to ensure it's protected from stains from above.

Absolutely! This floor performs wonderfully in any area of the home except a full bath.

Applying Satin Oil can mitigate the visibility of any scratches. If that doesn't work, we recommend using oils by Rubio Monocoat for minor touch ups. The Rubio color we use is named White. Small sample bottles can be purchased at various website if needed. Unfortunately, we do not sell their touch up oils at this time.

Yes, two times. The likelihood of you ever sanding/refinishing your floor is very low. The likelihood of you sanding your floor twice is essentially zero. The main reasons for sanding/refinishing your floors is if they've been heavily neglected and abused to the point of severe damage, or if you wish to change the color. But, sleep peacefully knowing that these floors will last a lifetime for you or the next owners of your space.

We do not consider this to be a high contrast floor.

Since it's such a long plank, yes, it's very likely that the carrier won't be capable of bringing the pallet onto the ground. We recommend having a few people there to assist in taking the cartons off of the truck and into your home. Generally speaking, our carriers will not hand-carry cartons into your house since they are only contracted for curbside delivery.

It's made in a carbon negative factory in southern Sweden, which collects and recycles all wood waste into biofuel.

It's very rare for this to happen, but we wouldn't recommend Tom Cruising yourself across this floor either since it does have such heavy character. Applying the Satin Oil typically smoothes everything out and prevents anything from catching. Since this is such a rustic floor, if catching does arise it's possible to gently sand down a sharp spot with fine grit paper and applying our Satin Oil or a Rubio Monocoat oil for touch up after.
