WHAT TO EXPECT
How to Prepare For Your Flooring Delivery
Grattis [congratulations] on ordering your Stuga floors! You are about to receive the most innovative and certified hardwood floors in the world. Before delivery, please review the details below to prepare. *Note: In some locations, white glove delivery is available for an additional fee. If you selected white glove shipping at checkout, you can disregard any information below about unloading.
It's important to keep in mind that flooring is a very heavy & long material to ship. Often, shipments exceed 1,000 pounds and may include multiple pallets. We put this page together to help you feel informed and prepared when your shipment arrives. We recommend that you start by watching this short video that shows an example of a flooring shipment.
Once your floors leave our warehouse, you'll receive a tracking number by email. Tracking will usually include an estimated date of arrival to your local terminal. Don't worry, this date is not an estimate for delivery at your home. From there, the carrier will call you to schedule your delivery date.
Most accessories and stair nosings ship separately from your floor. Stair nosings and transition pieces are made-to-order and typically take three to five weeks to ship.
If you need to change the delivery address for your order, please notify us as soon as possible. If your order has already left, we may have to charge a reconsignment fee imposed by the freight carrier. This fee can range from $150-$500+.
Once the freight carrier attempts to reach the shipping contact phone number confirmed on your order, it is important to set up a delivery appointment within 24 hours. Please ensure your voicemail is able to receive messages in case the freight carrier needs to leave a voicemail. If they are unable to reach someone at the phone number confirmed on your order, you are unable to accept delivery at the scheduled time, or you wish to change the delivery address, fees will apply.
Please note that your floors will be delivered curbside. Sometimes the carrier will not be able to move the floors with their pallet jack. In this instance, you may need to hand-unload each flooring box from the truck. We recommend having a few people available to unload and move your floors to a protected, climate-controlled area on the day of your delivery appointment.
If your shipment arrives with obvious damage, take photos of the damaged boxes and contact Stuga customer service at hej@stuga.com within 48 hours of delivery. We ask that you include photos of any damaged boxes in your email.
Do not refuse delivery. Doing so may result in shipping fees to return the material to Stuga, as well as delays in delivering replacement materials. Stuga is not responsible for any additional costs associated with but not limited to project delays, contractor fees, refused/returned deliveries, denied claims, or non-reporting within policy.
In many cases, the floors are still usable despite damage. If no more than 50% of a locking system is damaged, the floor is still completely fine to install. If you find more than 50% damage to a locking system, or any damage to the top, oak layer of the floors, we will replace the damaged boxes free of charge as soon as possible.
This short video shows examples of damage and explains what to do.
